my national day...

My first national day with the young and old @ PCNL. His vision, their efforts had made this national day a special & lively one for the residents, blending the community and giving those who doesn't have a TV at home a chance to watch it together. Speakers blasting the national day songs, creating the atmosphere of feeling proud to be Home. As most of them are living alone in a 1 room flat and low-income famlies, I wonder if the residents understood that they are not alone and have not been forgotten.

A good opportunity to educate kids on serving the elderly, they helped to give out packs of nasi lemak, soy bean milk, door gifts and a flag to the senior citizens. Mostly dressed in red tops, all set to celebrate the Nation's birthday together with those @ the esplanade.

Steamed yellow peas and popcorn were neatly packed in paper cones and bags respectively, to be given out while watch the show. There were flags, tattoos, stickers and prizes beautifully wrapped for the lucky draw. Some spotting ones had the S'pore flag tattooed on their forehead/cheek while others on their arms. Kids definitely enjoyed themselves very much with waffles, dunking it with chocolate dip, popcorns and lucky draw prizes. It's not the usual waffles/pancakes, it's Belgium Waffles, kindly sponsored by James (who owns a waffle shop @ Golden Mile Complex).

Smiles flashed across their wrinkled faces with gratitude and appreciation written all over.
