Do you know that there's 1 surviving kampung in Singapore? I heard about it but have not seen it till yesterday. As we enter Lorong Buangkok, off Yio Chu Kang Road, it was a narrow sandy road leading into some unkempt workshops, a polluted drain to measure the flood tidal and stale air.
As we take a walk into the trail of a dense mini forest, we saw houses made of wood planks and such places still evoke strong emotions and sentiments from the locals. There were a few refurbished kampongs and surprisingly those existing ones were well taken care of and in good condition still. A distinctive difference of urban & rural... The lifestyles, the living condition, the activities they indulged in and many many more...
To me it's the simplicity of life...
Enjoy!
