Today i visited 2 families, both fathers are in prison serving their sentence. I first visited this Malay boy name Haidi, he's in Pri 2 and i could see that he is quite well take care of by his grandparents especially his grandpa. His grandpa was telling us that he has to work at the age of 71 to support the family and Haidi's school fees. At times he had problems managing Haidi's school fees and medical fees because little boy is asthmatic. He was coughing badly when we visited him, it really pains me to see the condition he's in.
The other boy Marcus, is an intelligent Pri 1 kid. He could finish reading a Ladybird like storybook with little help and he was able to comprehen it. I felt that he should be given lots of guidance and discipline, he has the potential to go astray if not under proper care. His lives with his grandma and she brings him down to the hawker centre whenever she goes drinking with her kakis. When i looked into their eyes, they have a life filled with so much hopes and dreams and longing to see their dads. Marcus drew a sweet letter to his dad, there was a church, grassland, sun, birds and last but not least he and his dad. Marcus wrote a beautiful message to his dad, "Dear Daddy, I Love You. Marcus" It just melts everyone's heart and i hope his dad would feel the same and have the determination to change for the better.
At times, i can't avoid thinking that life is like a drama. There are kids who are blessed with a complete family but does not appreciate it and on other hand there are kids who long for family love but can't get it. It's also important that parents play apart in their growing stage and be a catalyst in their life...
